
Guy developed a drum methodology especially for people with autism and similar neurodivergents: Social Sticks. Research has shown that there is a strong link between the development of motor skills and the development of social skills, and playing the drums has shown to be an excellent medium to achieve improvement in social and cognitive domains. Guy’s methodology is focussed on following the intrinsic motivation of the people he teaches. It’s mostly non-verbal, and playful. Anyone with ASD, ADHD or similar neurodivergents who find themselves struggling with social skill and want to work on this can apply for coaching sessions. The methodology is being used at schools and care facilities, but also companies can book sessions to help their employees with struggles around social skills.
In order to create his drum methodology for people with autism and similar neurodivergents, Guy conducted research in collaboration with Stichting Tamino, Stichting Wim de Monchy and Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
